Senior Engineer – Dorchester (Poundbury Office)

Your Technical Focus

• Specialists in one area, with the opportunity to develop into the other

Infrastructure & Field Engineering (On-Site / Hands-On Focus)

You’ll typically be involved in:

• Designing and deploying network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VPNs)
• Configuring VLANs, routing, and secure connectivity between sites
• Delivering on-site installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting
• Supporting and maintaining Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO)
• Leading infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and tech refresh projects
• Performing system health checks and proactive maintenance
• Providing face-to-face consultancy and technical recommendations to customers

This area suits engineers who enjoy hands-on environments, networking, and being on-site solving real-world problems.

Cloud & Systems Engineering (Desk / Hybrid Focus)

You’ll typically be involved in:

• Designing and managing Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud environments
• Supporting Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune
• Leading cloud migrations and modernisation projects
• Troubleshooting complex, cross-platform systems issues
• Automating administrative and repeatable tasks using PowerShell
• Identifying recurring issues and implementing long-term improvements
• Contributing to technical standards, documentation, and best practices

This area suits engineers who enjoy deep technical problem-solving, cloud platforms, and structured system design.

Core Responsibilities (All L3 Engineers)

• Act as a senior escalation point for Level 1 & 2 engineers
• Lead and deliver projects across infrastructure and cloud environments
• Take ownership of complex and critical incidents
• Work directly with customers to explain solutions clearly and confidently
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers
• Maintain high-quality documentation and technical standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement across systems and processes

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering
• Strong technical problem-solving ability
• Confident communication and customer-facing skills
• Experience working on projects and escalations
• A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership

Technical Knowledge (Desirable)

• Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Azure AD)
• Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
• Networking (VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalls)
• Virtualisation (Hyper-V and/or VMware)
• PowerShell scripting
• Backup & disaster recovery solutions
